Mutharika Promises Speedy Economic Recovery

Democratic Progressive Party president who is also the party’s torch-bearer for the September 16 presidential election has outlined his rescue plan for Malawi aimed at bringing back the lost gory.
Speaking to a mammoth crowd that gathered at Katoto ground in the northern part of the country, Mutharika said the technical committee which he set up loaded with technocrats and was tasked with the responsibility of drafting economic recovery plan, has now completed its duty ready for implementation from the 17th September 2025.
He said he is appalled to see the country’s economy in shambles which is compounding the suffering of the majority of the people, it is because of this situation that he heeded the call of Malawians for him to make a political comeback and rescue the country.
He also lamented the country’s high domestic and foreign debt, lack of strategic investments, corruption and poor leadership as factors crippling the the economy.
Malawians are miserable people today, the country is among the poorest countries in the world, we are ready to change things, said Mutharika. We will replenish the depleted forex reserve in order to assist business people import goods.
Mutharika said the DPP manifesto is people centred as it focuses much on the people and how to take them out of grinding poverty. He emphases on the need to establish more technical colleges because no country can develop without technical people.
As a UN global ambassador on children and women, Mutharika says no child should fail to acquire both primary and secondary education because of fees and this is the reason why the party’s manifesto talks about free primary and secondary education.
He warned parents who will not send their children to school, saying there will be no excuse and that there will be a consequence for such parents.
This was his second campaign manifesto launch, the first one took place at Njamba Freedom Park in Blantyre on the 3rd of this month.
On his way back to the eastern region, Mutharika is expected to hold Lake Shore whistle stop tours on the 26th of August to Chintheche, Dwangwa, Nkhotakota boma and Kaphatenga in Salima
