A London-bound Air India passenger plane Boeing 787 operating the flight AI 171 with 242 people, including 12 crew members, onboard t crashed immediately after takeoff. crashed shortly after taking off travelling from an airport in India’s western city of Ahmedabad to Gatwick (the UK), the airline and police officials said June 12. Murder of a 5 Year Old Boy with Albinism in Mangochi With MCP in Power

A 19 year old man Botoman Martin has been arrested by police in Namwera, Mangochi district in connection with the brutal murder of Brian Alanlbi, 5, boy with albinism from Nkwesa village, Traditional Authority Bwananyambi in the district. The suspect who has been on the run for several days, was apprehended on 10 June, 2025, while attempting to flee to neighboring Mozambique. The body of the victim was discovered on June 5, 2025, a day after he was reported missing. Some members of the community noticed a dog barking while digging in a nearby garden and, upon closer inspection, they saw a human figure protruding from the soil. Mangochi police station Public Relations Officer Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi confirmed the development to Khulubvi Post saying in his preliminary confession, Martin admitted to committing the crime alongside five accomplices who remain at large. Inspector Amina Tepani further said the suspect claimed they they were hired by a man from Mozambique who allegedly seeks to become a traditional chief and intended to use the boy for ritual purposes. Meanwhile the Malawi Congress Party MCP which used to associate such kind of killings with DPP high profile officials for propaganda purposes is quite, failing to address the issue now that they are in government. Despite promising to end the brutal killings of people with albinism in 2019 and 2020 elections campaign trail, the nation continues to experience more deaths of such people with Chakwera at the helm of leadership, with no one to blame. It is however widely believed and alleged that these killings were craftly orchestrated by the MCP during the 2019/2020 elections campaign periods in order to wreck the image of the former ruling party, DPP for political gains. MCP is well known for employing dirty politics of death, manipulation, intimidation and violence since 1964. During their 31 years in power, Malawians used to be told that people with albinism don’t die; they just disappear with no traces and the idea was bought by all Malawians then. But we now know that MCP knew something about these killings with nobody arrested during that same period. After realizing the truth about the killings of people with albinism contained in a report submitted to Chakwera over 3 years ago, Chakwera decided to sit on it to date in order to maintain the false narrative of attributing the killings to some DPP officials. Such is the tragedy of having MCP either in opposition or government; they always find scapegoats for their failures instead of taking responsibility for them.

Former Zambian President Lungu Dies at 68

Former Zambian President Edgar Lungu has died in South Africa at 68, where he was reportedly receiving medical treatment, this is according to information reaching our desk. According to his daughter Tasila Lungu, the former President was this morning attended to at a South African hospital for a routine review but later developed chest complications. Zambia’s constitutional court ruled on 10th December 2024 that former President Edgar Lungu was ineligible to run for another term in office after he announced his return to active politics last year. The country’s highest court ruled that Lungu’s first term, which he served from 2015 to 2016 after the death of then-president Michael Sata, counted as a full term which Lungu cried foul. He served his second term from September 2016 to August 2021, and he then lost the presidency to United Party for National Development candidate, the incumbent President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema in the 2021 national election. Lungu ruled Zambia for seven years up to 2021.

29 Primary School Teachers Deliver Petition to Nsanje District Commissioner’s Office

About 29 primary school teachers in Nsanje this afternoon stormed the District Commissioner’s office to deliver a petition against what they call discriminatory handling of promotions by Nsanje District Education Office. These are ODL 1 ODL 2 and IPTE7 teachers. They claim to have been excluded in the promotions despite serving for 10 years and above as per President Lazarus Chakwera’s directive. The concerned teachers want their concerns resolved within four days from the date of their petition failing which they will employ a further action citing organizing peaceful demonstrations. Nsanje District Council is yet to speak on the matter.
