Mutharika Calls for Unity; Bedrock to Economic Growth

President Elect Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has called on Malawians to put aside their differences and join hands in marking the resetting of the new nation, Malawi.

Speaking at his Private Residence, Nyambadwe in Blantyre, during his maiden speech to the reporters, Mutharika emphasized the importance of respecting the will of the people and promised that there is hope on the horizon of which he will deal with most prominent chartered threats, such as hunger, economy, agriculture, unity and coexistence.

Mutharika said his mission is to improve the way of life in a manner that nurtures humanity, encourages compassion toward one another and rewards the collective effort to resolve the crises that have hit the country hard.

Mutharika has set his priorities and principles that will guide his administration. He mentioned of ending hunger as many Malawians are going through at the moment which championing the issues of fertilizer. He also tackled the issue of the economy which he described as key to unlock potential investors.

In a rare praise to the former President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, he praised him for showing the sportsmanship of conceding defeat and let the will of the people prevail.

Several high ranking members of the Blue Alliance attended the press briefing including the incoming Second Vice President, Enoch Kamzingeni Chihana.
