Mwanamvekha Reaffirms Mutharika’s Return to Fix the Economy

Mwanamvekha said that when Chakwera took presidential office in 2020, he found things at very low prices, for example; sugar was at 550 kwacha, now it has reached 4500 kwacha and is even scarce, soap was at 50 kwacha, now it’s at 1000 kwacha, fertilizer was at 18,000 kwacha, now it’s at 155,000 kwacha, fuel was at 700 kwacha per liter, now it’s at 2730 kwacha, foreign currency was available, now it’s scarce, to mention just a few things.

This is proof that Chakwera has ruined the economy of this country. But don’t worry because Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is coming back to fix the economy of this country as he did by reducing inflation which was at 36% as of February 2013 to 9% in 2019 , resulting in the massive decline of goods and services prices, economic growth and prosperity of our nation.

What you need to do is to vote on 16th September for President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Blue Alliance shadow MPs, and shadow Councilors to rescue Malawi from the current consuming fire.

Lilongwe and surrounding districts which are considered Malawi Congress Party stronghold have in the past seven days, witnessed unprecedented crowds coming to catch a glimpse of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and attending opposition DPP rallies. For example, the rally which took place on Saturday, 30th August, 2025 at Chilimampunga ground in Mtandire, Lilongwe, a milestone attendance was reached as some supporters started gathering Friday evening while others were gathering first thing on Saturday morning to secure a good spot to show their dedication to the party. Speaking to a mammoth crowd that thronged Chilimampunga ground, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika urged voters to vote massively for him and the party to avoid a rerun, saying outright victory would help save money as Malawi’s economy cannot afford two elections. Mutharika asked Malawians to demonstrate their support and love for him by casting their vote since his comeback is a response to their call for him to return and save the country. “My return to contest was not for myself but to rescue Malawi”, Mutharika told the gathering. For his political opponents who have been going around telling Malawians not to vote for him because he does not have energy to serve well, Mutharika was defiant and responded with rancor saying he will never abdicate or relinquish power to his vice because he feels strong and equal to the task. I am workaholic, I have been working from dusk to down for the past 5 years to keep the party strong and united, so how can I rule for only 2 months and abdicate? Wondered Mutharika. He warned UTM leaders to stop attacking him, “Stop that stupidity, stop it forever, I have no time for nonsense anymore, you left DPP saying it is a bad party, go away”, charged Mutharika while mixing it with humour. Chilimampunga ground in Mtandire is where youthful DPP vice president for the central region, Hon Alfred Gangata aspires to become the member of parliament. Mutharika’s runningmate retired Justice Hon. Dr Jane Ansah, DPP secretary general Peter Mukhito, Aford President Chihana were among attendees.

Kabambe Blocked some UTM Members from Becoming DPP Running Mate

Contrary to claims circulating in political circles, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) never offered UTM three cabinet positions in the event of a possible alliance. Instead, DPP requested that UTM submit three names for consideration for the running mate position. However, the UTM negotiating team went a step further and suggested four potential candidates: • Newton Kambala • Hellen Chabunya • Catherine Mzumara • Fredokiss Kalua. This proposal was immediately blocked by UTM’s presidential camp, led by Dalitso Kabambe, who refused to allow any of these names to be submitted to DPP and that if its not him , then nobody is going to be running mate. The primary goal behind these suggestions by DPP was to avoid a “Thyolo-Thyolo Ticket”, as both Peter Mutharika and Kabambe hail from the same district—something many viewed as politically insensitive to Malawians. The deadlock was not due to greed from DPP or UTM at large but from Kabambe and his inner circle, who insisted he was the only acceptable candidate. In a surprising turn, after DPP entered into an alliance with AFORD, Kabambe reportedly made a desperate attempt to return to DPP negotiations, this time seeking consideration for the position of Second Vice President. However, he was informed that it was too late—the agreement with AFORD had already been finalized. W e can confidently say that Kabambe , is the greedy one amongst all .

Chihana Upbeat on SME’s as Bedrock of Economic Growth

Blue Alliance Second Vice President, Enoch Kamzingeni Chihana says Malawi must fully unlock entrepreneurial potential by having a razor- sharp focus government that will prioritize SME’s as an engine that will accelerate economic growth. He was speaking this evening after visiting the Luwinga market in the City of Mzuzu. In his remarks, he said time has come for Malawi to forge a new consensus to confront a new reality, a consensus that unites Malawians behind shared determination to reform the economy and rebuild the institutions. “Your incoming government will pursue a number of initiatives to bolster the SME’s sector and am asking you not to take off the pedal. The government of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika through its manifesto has made inclusive growth and job creation our apex priority and we want our vendors to be key players in our economy “Micro, small and medium enterprises and cooperatives together form a vital part of our economy with immense growth potential. Whether they are small businesses in townships or cooperatives in rural areas, whether they are well established or just starting out, these businesses are integral to the future of our economy,” said Chihana. Later, he was joined by the AFORD shadow MP for the area, Paul Nthambazale Nyirenda and urged them to cast the vote for him and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

Rhoda Gadama Free Medicare Launched

A mobile clinic to provide free medical services to the sick right in their respective villages has been launched in Mulanje district by a lady and concerned mother, Rhoda Gadama. The initiative seeks to address some of the health challenges the underprivileged face especially those who cannot access health facilities due to mobility challenges and even some who cannot manage to buy drugs from pharmacies as most public hospitals have run out of medical stock due to inadequate funding. The Rhoda Gadama mobile clinic free medical care services, the first of it’s kind in the country to be launched by an individual, brings together volunteers specialized in various faculties of human body and are certified health practitioners working in both public and private hospitals. Some of the services offered to the public include, screening diabetes, hypertension, cleaning chronic wounds, underfive clinic as well as referring other non-communicable diseases to the hospital. Since the initiative was launched about a month ago, over 1,200 patients have been served in their respective areas and some of the places visited are Nansomba, Misanjo,Ntenjela and Nkowa.
