Michiru Private Secondary School JCE Student, David Laid to Rest

The body of David Njewa, a 16-year-old Form 2 student at Michru Private Schools, who was supposed to sit for his JCE exams this year has been laid to rest.

David, a devoted Catholic and member of the children’s choir at Likuni Parish in Archdiocese of Lilongwe, succumbed to complications from Malaria , low blood pressure, and Leukemia on June 17, 2025.

He has been laid to rest today June 19th, 2025, at his father’s home in Ntcheu, leaving behind his grieving parents, teachers, and friends.

May his Soul Rest in Peace

Lungu to be buried in South Africa

Credible sources have informed KBN TV that the family of Edgar Chagwa Lungu has made a firm decision to bury the former Head of State in South Africa, following a significant disagreement with the Government. According to separate interviews with individuals close to the family in South Africa, Lungu’s remains will be exhumed and repatriated to Zambia at a later date. Burial arrangements are currently underway in collaboration with South African authorities, with the possibility of holding the burial ceremony on either Saturday or Monday. The repatriation of Lungu’s remains to Zambia, initially scheduled for this afternoon, was cancelled at the last minute due to concerns raised by the family regarding unilateral decisions made by the Government that deviated from an earlier agreement.

Collection of Nomination Papers for the September, 2025 General Elections

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is informing all stakeholders and the general public that, Head Office in Lilongwe will remain open over the weekend on Saturday, 14 June 2025 and Sunday, 15 June, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m for the duration of the period open for collection of nomination papers for the 2025 General Election. Sangwani Mwafulirwa who is the Director of Media and Public Relations of MEC says this arrangement is intended to enable prospective candidates and their representatives to collect nomination papers for the Presidential Election. Mwafulirwa further states that in the same spirit, all MEC offices at councils across the country will remain open during the stated days and hours to facilitate the collection of nomination papers for the Parliamentary and Local Government Elections. According to the Director of Media and Public Relations, Sangwani Mwafulirwa this arrangement does not extend to payment or deposit of nomination fees, which should be done through FDH Bank branches during their regular banking hours. For clarification or assistance regarding the collection of nomination papers or the nomination process, stakeholders are encouraged to directly contact the MEC District Elections Officers responsible for their respective councils. MEC is urging members to contact the Director of Media and Public Relations Sangwani Mwafulirwa and relevant officers at the Malawi Electoral Commission MEC for more information and clarification.
