Court Slaps Lawyer Chimkango with K40,000 Fine for Traffic Related Offenses

Renowned lawyer Bob Chimkango has been slapped with a K40,000 fine by the in Limbe after being found guilty of two traffic-related offences.

The court ordered Chimkango to pay K25,000 for ignoring a police signal to stop at a roadblock, a violation of Section 39(3) of the Police Act. He was also fined K15,000 for driving under the influence of alcohol, contrary to Section 128 of the Road Traffic Act.

The case was heard on Wednesday before First Grade Magistrate Lameck Mkwapatira, who found Chimkango guilty on both counts.

Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, Dr. Michael Bizwick Usi has today departed for Maputo, Mozambique, where he will represent President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera at the 50th Independence Anniversary Celebrations of the Republic of Mozambique scheduled for Wednesday, 25th June 2025. The Vice President is travelling at the official invitation of Daniel Francisco Chapo, President of the Republic of Mozambique. The visit reflects the deep-rooted and cordial bilateral relations that exist between Malawi and Mozambique — relations anchored in shared history, mutual respect, and regional cooperation. This trip follows President Chapo’s recent state visit to Malawi, where, among other symbolic gestures of unity and solidarity, he laid a wreath at the Kamuzu Mausoleum in Lilongwe, accompanied by Vice President Usi. The Vice President’s presence in Maputo not only underscores Malawi’s commitment to regional friendship, but also offers an opportunity to further strengthen diplomatic and people-to-people ties between the two nations. President Chakwera to Attend the 32nd AFREXIM Bank Annual Meetings in Abuja, Nigeria

President Lazarus Chakwera is due to lead the country’s delegation to the 32nd AFREXIM Bank Annual Meetings in Abuja, Nigeria, from June 25-27. The summit, themed “Building the Future on Decades of Resilience,” will discuss boosting intra-African trade and investment. Chakwera will join other African and Caribbean leaders in high-level talks and hold bilateral meetings to promote the country’s investment opportunities in agriculture, energy, and infrastructure. State Vice President Dr Michael Usi who is also a leader of Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu on Friday,20th June 2025,toured Kasungu town where he engaged with the local business community. Usi met various market vendors and local business owners to actually appreciate some of the challenges they meet.
