According to international News outlets seen by Khulubvi Post Reporter in Washington State, at least 15 people have been confirmed dead after a brutal attack in Sydney, an incident authorities are investigating as a suspected act of terrorism that appears to have targeted members of the Jewish community.

The attack took place on 14 December 2025 at Bondi Beach, one of Australia’s most popular public locations, triggering widespread shock and an immediate escalation of national security measures. Police tactical units, paramedics, and fire and rescue services were rapidly dispatched as chaos unfolded at the scene.

Australian law enforcement agencies say early findings suggest the victims were singled out because of their religious affiliation. Investigators are following multiple lines of inquiry, including possible links to Islamist extremist ideology, though officials caution that the investigation remains active and no conclusions have yet been formally established.

“This was not a random incident,” a senior police official said during a media briefing. “It was a calculated and targeted act. While terrorism-related motives are under examination, we must allow investigators to complete their work before making definitive determinations.”

Several others sustained injuries during the attack, with some listed in critical condition and currently receiving treatment at hospitals across Sydney. The area surrounding Bondi Beach has been placed under tight security as forensic specialists comb the site for evidence.

Australian Prime Minister strongly denounced the violence, describing it as “a despicable act driven by hatred,” and extended condolences to the families of the victims and the broader Jewish community. “Australia rejects terrorism, antisemitism, and all forms of religious extremism,” the Prime Minister said. “We stand united as a nation, and those responsible for this atrocity will face the full force of the law.”

Jewish leaders nationwide have appealed for calm while calling on authorities to reinforce security at synagogues, schools, and community centres. Messages of sympathy and condemnation have also poured in from international leaders and organizations.

In response to the incident, security agencies have heightened the national threat alert level and expanded police patrols in major cities, particularly around religious and cultural sites. Members of the public have been urged to remain alert and report any suspicious behaviour.

As the investigation continues, authorities have cautioned against speculation or the targeting of entire communities, stressing that acts of terror are carried out by individuals and should not be attributed to any religion or group as a whole.

In a separate incident, two people have been confirmed dead and nine others injured following a shooting at Brown University campus in Northeast of New York in the United States of America, authorities have confirmed.

The shooting triggered an immediate lockdown of the campus as armed police units, ambulances, and emergency responders rushed to the scene. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, with several reported to be in serious but stable condition.

Police say the suspect has been neutralized and taken into custody, and there is no ongoing threat to the public at this stage. Investigators have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack.

University officials described the incident as “deeply tragic” and announced the suspension of classes while counselling and support services are being made available to students and staff. Authorities have launched a full investigation and are appealing to witnesses and anyone with relevant information to come forward.
