The 7th African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit has officially opened in Luanda, Angola, setting a renewed tone of cooperation, stability, and joint development between the two continents. The gathering marks a significant milestone in Africa–Europe diplomacy.

Held under the theme “Promoting Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism,” the summit has drawn leaders and high-level representatives from all 27 European Union member states and all 55 African Union member states. Malawi is being represented by Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah, who joined other dignitaries in the landmark event.

In his opening remarks, Angola’s President and current Chairperson of the African Union, João Lourenço, highlighted the special significance of November for Angola. As the nation commemorates 50 years of independence, hosting the summit symbolizes what he called Africa’s expanding influence and strategic importance in global affairs.

The summit is expected to focus on peace and security, climate resilience, economic transformation, and strengthening multilateral cooperation between Africa and Europe. More updates will follow as discussions progress.
